As the Internet Business grows and larger numbers Online Jobs become available, we now have more options to Work From Home, if this is our preference. Here I will analyse some of the pros and cons of both deciding to Work From Home or go out to work.
In the first place I will deal with the benefits and drawbacks of working from the home, things we should consider before making our choice.
• Most people who Work From Home are self employed. This will include book keeping, invoicing clients, follow up late payments. If you enjoy this challenge, you will probably enjoy working from your home as a self employed business. If you do not enjoy book keeping and keeping track of invoices, then you would definitely not want to opt for the self employed option.
• You will be working alone. If you are more of a social person, who prefers to network with colleagues, you may well find that working from home is lonely. Could you manage working alone every day?
• Do you need a manager to advise you of your next job, give you feedback, support you with problems? If so, you need to consider that you will not have this immediate backup if you decide to Work From Home.
• A number of the newer and more profitable careers are in the Internet Business. If you do not relish working with modern technology, then this is another factor for you to consider. Could you manage on the cash you would earn with a home position which did not use the latest technology?
• Many positions available to people working from home are Online Jobs and therefore you are free to set your own working day. If your option to Work From Home is based on the fact that you have family commitments, then the flexibility of the working day, presented by this type of job may be perfect for you.
Moving on to those who decide to go out to work, what are the benefits and drawbacks of this sort of career?
• Office politics – no matter what size firm you work for, there are guaranteed to be office politics and if you want to survive in this type of workplace, it is a fact you will have to accept. Some policies you may wholeheartedly disagree with, but you will have to accept them.
• Training – working for a firm, training is often paid for by the firm, especially if they can see value-add in the years ahead to the business as well as to you.
• Pensions and other considerations. Often companies offer pension benefits to staff, plus in some instances death in service, dental insurance, health insurance, share option schemes and profit sharing schemes. These are well worth considering as self-employed people are much less likely to be able to afford, in the early days, these extras.
• Paid time off work. Firms offer paid holidays to employees, whereas the self employed will not have this benefit. They will also pay for sickness, maternity pay, paternity pay, bereavement breaks and other miscellaneous payments.
There are, therefore, many things to consider in your quest for the perfect role. Whether you decide Online Jobs in the Internet Business are the way forward for you, or you prefer the traditional 9 to 5 type of work, I hope this has given you a few matters to ponder.
