Some Information On Photography
The controversy about whether photography is art is one that has been raging in the art world for a long time and we are not likely to totally solve it here. But it can be an important decision you have to make if you are considering a career in photography with the goal of producing quality art works. If that is where you are, the idea that someone would say “That’s not art, you just took a picture” is pretty disturbing. So it’s worth looking at the question from several different angles before we pick which side to weigh in on.Of course, art is a subjective thing. Many people would look at a Jackson Pollack “splatter” artwork and determine most definitely that modern art is not art because it “doesn’t look like anything.” And if you spend any time in the modern art world, you will definitely see something at some time along the way occupying space in a perfectly respectable art museum that, to you, could never be considered art.

doesn’t take much to get great shots indoors. In fact the secret is so simple that it’ll amaze you once you know what it is. The first secret to taking good indoor shots is that you need light. The major problem with indoor shots is really just they are far too dark. I’ve taken shots of things inside and sometimes found that no matter how hard I try, without the aid of an overhead lamp or sunlight streaming through the window my shots just won’t turn out.Portrait shots are a classic example of this. There is a very good reason as to why photographers who work at their family residence, have lots of big and obtrusive lights, lamps etc, creating a lot of light. That’s because they know that in order to work successfully indoors, they must have adequate lighting or forget it. It’s really that simple. The correct balance of a light is a tricky one at times. You can have too much light which tends to create too many areas of white light.

Light acts on any subject it may strike. This much may be obvious. But every subject also acts on any light that strikes it. A subject may act on light in three distinct ways: refraction, absorption, and reflection. Refraction is the bending of light waves as they pass through a transparent material such as glass. In fact, the refractive property of glass is what is manipulated within the photographic lens, to focus an image onto the film (or digital image sensor). Absorption is the process whereby certain materials convert light energy into some other form of energy (usually heat). The absorptive property of a black painted foam core board may be used by the photographer to selectively “subtract” light, so that it does not bounce around the studio in an undesirable way.
The art of digital photography is simplified with the advent of modern technology such that any basic layman can become a photographer with little and basic understanding of the subject. And moreover technology is such that any scrap you shoot becomes an event. So, go ahead!
