In Rustenburg, Xtensive ICT Academy learners performed community service where they offered a helping hand to Tslupe Hospice (Home for people living with HIV/AIDS) and Bessie Mpelegele Ngwana (Home for the Disabled). The purpose of the Spring Day activities in Rustenburg was to show disabled people and those living with HIV/AIDS that they are loved and appreciated, that they are not alone and to remind them that where there is life the is hope.
The Rustenburg Herald covered the event and Radio Mafisa hosted three of our learners where they will talk about the community service, the Xtensive Learnership programmes and private initiatives. Contributions for the day came from the Tlhabane Spar and Watloo (provision of food). Xtensive Learners + Staff contributed more than R3000.00 for the day through various fund raising initiatives. The Program of for the day included clean-ups at the Tslupe Hospice and the Bessie Ngwana home for the disabled. Snacks were shared with the dwellings and presentation of food (fruits and vegetables most). Learners reached out to the disabled kids by reading poems and stories as well as singing.
The Rustenburg Spring festivities were concluded with an after-party held 10 minutes drive from the Xtensive Campus where the facilitators presided over the karaoke and concert activities. By 16h00 the learners left for their homes after celebrating Spring Day in the Xtensive ICT Style!
